{"id":124435,"date":"2026-01-08T00:45:53","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T00:45:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/124435\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T00:45:53","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T00:45:53","slug":"man-deemed-competent-for-shooting-case-near-kern-county-fairgrounds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/124435\/","title":{"rendered":"Man deemed competent for shooting case near Kern County Fairgrounds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A man has been deemed competent to stand trial for attempted murder and related charges following a <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/heavy-police-response-on-south-p-street-near-kern-county-fairgrounds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">September 2025 shooting that injured a man near the Kern County Fairgrounds<\/a>, according to the Kern County Superior Court website.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Anderdson<a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/19-year-old-pleads-not-guilty-to-shooting-near-kern-county-fairgrounds-court-crime-south-bakersfield-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> pleaded not guilty<\/a> on Sept. 30, 2025.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Photo: KBAK\/KBFX{p}{\/p}\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/adadc447-bd6b-4602-a36d-25e2bec331f2-Media20250922T222912.867.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield police said Anderson shot a 19-year-old man on the night of Sept. 22, 2025, in the 1100 block of Terrace Way, leaving the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The man survived the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his injuries, the victim managed to drive himself to the 700 block of South P Street, where bystanders found him and called 911. Officers arrived shortly after 10 p.m. and transported the man to a hospital.
