{"id":124593,"date":"2026-01-08T02:55:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T02:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/124593\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T02:55:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T02:55:08","slug":"san-jose-sharks-center-ty-dellandrea-out-with-lower-body-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/124593\/","title":{"rendered":"San Jose Sharks center Ty Dellandrea out with lower body injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The San Jose Sharks will be without<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/01\/07\/san-jose-sharks-macklin-celebrini-sap-center-ty-dellandrea-ryan-reaves-zack-ostapchuk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Ty Dellandrea<\/a> for the foreseeable future as the centerman is considered week-to-week with a lower body injury,\u00a0coach Ryan Warsofsky <a href=\"https:\/\/sanjosehockeynow.com\/san-jose-sharks-warsofsky-dellandrea-injury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told reporters said Wednesday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dellandrea exited Tuesday\u2019s game <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/01\/06\/san-jose-sharks-columbus-blue-jackets-pavol-regenda-ryan-reaves-alexander-wennberg\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with the Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a> at the 4:45 mark of the second period. Trying to take the puck to the net, Dellandrea was instead inadvertently tripped by Blue Jackets defenseman Denton Mateychuk, causing his right leg to crash hard into the post next to goalie Jet Greaves.<\/p>\n<p>Dellandrea, who has established himself as the Sharks third-line center in recent weeks, had to be helped off the ice and into the dressing room and did not return as the Sharks went on to a 5-2 win before an announced crowd of 16,258 at SAP Center.<\/p>\n<p>The right-shot Dellandrea has 11 points in 41 games this season, is third on the Sharks with 511 faceoffs taken with a team-high win percentage of 52.3. Dellandrea is also among the Sharks\u2019 top penalty-killing forwards.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ty Dellandrea left the ice after being tripped and then colliding with the goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wuLFIfE3He\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/wuLFIfE3He<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sharks on NBCS (@NBCSSharks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBCSSharks\/status\/2008760751427908094?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 7, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was not immediately clear who would take Dellandrea\u2019s spot in the Sharks\u2019 lineup for Wednesday\u2019s game against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena.
