REDDING, Calif. \u2014 Glock handguns, among the most popular pistols on the market, will no longer be available for purchase in California starting July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed into law AB 1127, which prohibits the sale of Glocks because a small part can be modified or replaced to convert the gun into an automatic weapon. Although illegal, this modification is becoming increasingly popular among lawbreakers.<\/p>\n

Tyler Thompson, a Glock dealer at Redding Guns, said the impending ban has left him with only one Glock in stock. <\/p>\n

“There’s quite a few more guns that are coming on to the California roster, which is nice, but hopefully Glock will modify their pistols, and retool that part that’s now going to be banned and put another Glock pistol or two on the roster, which would be nice.” <\/p>\n

Tyler said he won’t be able to buy any new stock for his store after January 1. However, those who already own a Glock will not be affected by the new law, and private party transfers will still be allowed.<\/p>\n
