FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee is demanding swift action and accountability after the fatal shooting of Ren\u00e9e Nicole Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the group condemned the killing and called for criminal charges against the ICE agent involved, a full and independent investigation, and the immediate withdrawal of ICE from Minnesota.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was a preventable death. No federal agent is above the law,\u201d the committee says. \u201cRen\u00e9e Nicole Good should be alive today. When an ICE agent kills a civilian, justice cannot wait. Accountability must be swift, transparent, and real. ICE\u2019s continued presence in Minnesota is a threat to public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n
Good, a 37yearold Minneapolis resident, was shot and killed by an ICE officer during a federal enforcement operation on Jan. 7, 2026. <\/p>\n
Federal authorities say the agent fired in selfdefense as Good\u2019s vehicle moved toward officers, but local leaders and eyewitness accounts have raised questions about that narrative. <\/p>\n
Good\u2019s death has since sparked protests and widespread criticism. <\/p>\n
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have openly disputed the federal government\u2019s version of events, and many activists and officials are demanding greater transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n
The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee also highlighted what it called ICE\u2019s \u201cpattern of violence, lack of oversight, and disregard for human life, especially toward Black, Indigenous, immigrant, and marginalized communities.\u201d <\/p>\n
The group says such actions \u201cundermine trust and put lives at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n
