Southern California will experience blustery Santa Ana winds and cooler temperatures this weekend.<\/p>\n
Gusty northeasterly winds will set in across the region \u201cthrough at least the weekend,\u201d according to the National Weather Service<\/a>.\u00a0L.A. and Ventura counties are expected to see wind\u00a0speeds exceed 60 miles per hour.<\/p>\n \u201cThe winds\u00a0[on Saturday]\u00a0and Sunday will be similar and will reach 60 to 70 miles per hour\u00a0in the mountains, including the Santa Monicas and Santa Susanas, with advisory level gusts of 40 to 55 miles per hour across the western valleys of L.A. County\u00a0and the eastern valleys of Ventura County,\u201d NWS said in their area forecast discussion<\/a> early Saturday morning. Other areas that\u00a0will\u00a0likely experience\u00a0winds of over 40 miles per hour include the Ventura County coast and the western\u00a0portion\u00a0of Malibu.<\/p>\n Click here to view the latest forecast for your Southern California community <\/a><\/p>\n A High Wind Warning<\/a>, which indicates possible gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour, is in effect for the western Santa Monica Mountains until 1 p.m. Sunday. Many other communities are under a Wind Advisory<\/a> set to expire at the same time.<\/p>\n Per NWS, the windy conditions will coincide with\u00a0cooler temperatures this weekend before a\u00a0warm front\u00a0creeps\u00a0in\u00a0early next week.<\/p>\n \u201cThere will be a slow warming\u00a0trend into\u00a0next week, though overnight lows will remain chilly,\u201d forecasters remarked.<\/p>\n Despite the Santa Ana winds, local wildfire risk remains low due to the recent downpours that have soaked the region.<\/p>\n \u201cTypically, we would say we have elevated fire danger during a wind event like this, but because the ground is saturated, we don\u2019t have that fire danger,\u201d said KTLA meteorologist Kacey Montoya, who noted that, by this time last year, only 0.16 inches of rain had fallen in the water year, which starts in October.<\/p>\n This year, however, some parts of SoCal have received 14 inches, Montoya said.<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
