A National Weather Service wind advisory will remain in place until at least 1 p.m. Sunday in parts of the Southland as robust Santa Ana winds continue to sweep across the region.<\/p>\n
The warning covers the Santa Monica Mountains and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. An advisory for Orange County will continue until 2 p.m. Monday, forecasters said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe winds will be concentrated through the usual Santa Ana Wind Corridor roughly 10 miles either side of a line drawn from the Santa Clarita Valley to Point Mugu,\u201d according to the NWS. \u201cThe winds will also follow a diurnal pattern with the strongest winds occurring in the morning and relaxing later in the afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n
North to northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected in the Santa Monica Mountains and 20 to 30 mph in the valleys with gusts of up to 45 mph. Orange County winds of 20 30 mph are in the forecast with gusts up to 50 mph, the NWS said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDamaging winds could blow down trees and power lines,\u201d forecasters warned. \u201cRisk is increased due to recently saturated soils. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Los Angeles area highs will be in the mid 60s to mid 70s and the mid 40s to mid 50s in the Antelope Valley.
