One battle is in the rearview for Teyana Taylor.<\/p>\n
The multihyphenate entertainer has secured the Golden Globe for supporting actress in a motion picture for her performance as revolutionary Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s black comedy \u201cOne Battle After Another.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taylor beat out Ariana Grande (\u201cWicked: For Good\u201d), Amy Madigan (\u201cWeapons\u201d), Emily Blunt (\u201cThe Smashing Machine\u201d) and \u201cSentimental Value\u201d stars Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for the prize.<\/p>\n
\u201cI almost didn\u2019t even write a speech because I didn\u2019t think I would [win],\u201d Taylor trailed off as she broke into tears onstage. <\/p>\n
Taylor thanked God, her family and the \u201cOne Battle\u201d crew for her honor. <\/p>\n
\u201cMost importantly, to my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight,\u201d Taylor said, \u201cour softness is not a liability.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dream deserves space,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Taylor was one of several \u201cOne Battle\u201d cast members nominated for Globes this year, including three-time winner Leonardo Dicaprio and breakout star Chase Infiniti.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s her first Golden Globe nomination, despite receiving previous acting accolades for her performance in A.V. Rockwell\u2019s 2023 drama \u201cA Thousand and One.\u201d She\u2019s also found critical success<\/a> in the music sphere, where she gained early prominence as a singer, dancer and choreographer.<\/p>\n
