CLARKSTON, Mich. \u2013 A 79-year-old Clarkston man says he\u2019s been without his Chevrolet Silverado for over a month because the dealership that is servicing the truck can\u2019t get the part it needs. He bought the truck because it fit his wife\u2019s wheelchair. <\/p>\n
He is her sole caretaker. Now, he\u2019s left without a way for them to get around. <\/p>\n
Dave Clarence Webster bought his truck in 2023. Around Dec. 1, he got a notice on the truck. He didn\u2019t know that would mean they wouldn\u2019t have the car they need for over 40 days now. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was saying that my SD card was not reading,\u201d Webster said. <\/p>\n
He took it in for maintenance at the same dealership he bought it from, Vic Canaver Chevrolet. <\/p>\n
When he went in for the appointment, he discovered another issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI attempted to shift into Four Wheel Drive, and it wouldn\u2019t shift,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
He got to the dealership, and they told him his transmission was out. The truck is in pristine condition and is still under warranty.<\/p>\n
Webster thought getting it fixed shouldn\u2019t take too long. He was wrong.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am talking to the write-up guy, and he tells me point-blank, \u2018It could be six weeks,\u2019\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
They told him it\u2019s because they can\u2019t get the General Motors parts fast enough. He says he called Chevrolet to try and get some answers.<\/p>\n
\u201cA few days back, I was in the line, going into one of the restaurants and the phone rang and it was this lady from GM,\u201d he said. \u201cShe says, \u2018Oh I have a case number for ya now.\u2019 I said I wasn\u2019t worried about the case number. I want my truck back.\u201d <\/p>\n
Local 4 reached out to General Motors and Chevrolet for comment. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate this situation being brought to our attention,\u201d Director of Chevrolet Communications Chad Lyons said. \u201cWe will work directly with the customer to resolve this issue as swiftly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
