Dana Point Councilman Jamey Federico was selected as the chairman of the Orange County Transportation Authority board Monday.<\/p>\n
Federico will succeed Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairman Doug Chaffee, who will remain on the OCTA board.<\/p>\n
The vote for Federico was unanimous. He has served on the board since January 2023.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful to my colleagues on the board for showing confidence in me and allowing me the opportunity serve\u201d as chairman of the agency\u2019s board, Federico said. \u201cI look forward to working together to deliver transportation solutions that improve the way people move, enhance safety and support the economic vitality of Orange County.\u201d<\/p>\n
Federico was elected to Dana Point\u2019s City Council in November 2018 and has taken turns serving as mayor and mayor pro tem. He is a retired U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel with about 22 years of active duty that included time in Iraq and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
Federico has a bachelor of science degree in geomechanics from the University of Rochester and a master\u2019s of business administration degree from Webster University. He lives in Dana Point with his wife, Alexis, who was also a helicopter pilot for the Marines.<\/p>\n
Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung will serve as vice chairman.
