The Waterford Police Department is investigating the deaths of a Waterford Township couple in their 90s from what appears to be a murder-suicide, officials said.<\/p>\n

Police responded to a home on Crescent Road at around 6 p.m. Wednesday on a report of two people dead inside the residence, according to Waterford Police Chief Scott Underwood.<\/p>\n

A 97-year-old woman and 96-year-old man were found seated in the living room with fatal gunshot wounds, Underwood stated in a news release.<\/p>\n

A handgun was recovered from the scene, he stated.<\/p>\n

A preliminary investigation indicates murder-suicide, Underwood stated.<\/p>\n

Detectives determined that both had \u201cextensive\u201d medical histories, Underwood stated. No other information, including the names of the couple, has been released yet.<\/p>\n

Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday by the Oakland County Medical Examiner.<\/p>\n
