PHOTO: KBAK\/KBFX<\/p>\n<p>Scrivner, initially charged with three felony counts of alleged child abuse and two felony counts of alleged possession of assault weapons, was allowed to enter a court-approved treatment program instead of continuing through the justice system. PHOTO: KBAK\/KBFX<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Skidmore of the <a href=\"https:\/\/opendoorhelps.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Open Door Network<\/a> expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, stating, &#8220;We don&#8217;t feel like the decision was fair and we don&#8217;t feel like all the facts of the case are being considered.&#8221; Skidmore launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/appeal-mental-health-diversion-decision-for-zack-scrivner-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">petition <\/a>to raise awareness and push for change, which has garnered over 2,000 signatures.<\/p>\n<p>H.A. Sala, Scrivner&#8217;s defense attorney, supported the judge&#8217;s decision, saying, &#8220;It was the right decision that the judge made based on the facts and circumstances of the case.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>The case has drawn reactions from lawmakers, including California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Sen. Shannon Grove, and Dr. Jasmeet Bains, all demanding accountability. Congressman Vince Fong stated, &#8220;Crimes involving the abuse of children should never be tolerated,&#8221; urging state lawmakers to ensure laws are enforced to protect victims.
