\u00a0Supervisor Chris Parlier announced he has pulled papers to run for re-election to serve a full term to represent Kern County\u2019s Second Supervisorial District.<\/p>\n
Parlier was elected in a special election in November 2024 to fill the remaining two year of Zack Scrivner’s term as supervisor.<\/p>\n
Scrivner had resigned in August 2024 for medical reasons. He was also facing criminal charges for the alleged sexual assault of one of his children.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was honored to be entrusted by the voters of Kern County to fill a vacancy in the Second Supervisorial District,\u201d said Chris Parlier. \u201cOver the past year, I\u2019ve been inspired every day by the people of this district, who have shown me the dedication it takes to build stronger communities together. I look forward to continuing to work alongside those partners and furthering my commitment to advancing public safety, fiscal responsibility, and improving the quality of life for the constituents.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since taking office in December 2024, Parlier has led several initiatives to strengthen public safety, support local businesses and the regional economy, and enhance necessary infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Parlier cited several major accomplishments in the past two years, including:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Traveled to Washington, D.C., in April 2025 to advocate for the Kern County oil industry,<\/p>\n
\u2022 Opened new Sheriff Sub-stations in Taft and Rosamond.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Secured over $300,000 in equipment and operational support for the Kern County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Fire Department.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Managed approximately $12 million in park improvements and $50 million in road, construction, and infrastructure projects across District 2.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u2022 In coordination with state legislators, instituted the procurement of $2 million in state budget funding for fire mitigation efforts through grazing for the Kern County Fire Department, supporting local Kern County sheep herders and wool growers.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Guided the transition of fire protection operations and enforcement of State Fire Marshal regulations in California City to the Kern County Fire Department.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u2022 Passed a local ordinance establishing a zero-tolerance policy for catalytic converter theft.<\/p>\n
