A fan vote was held to\u00a0determine\u00a0the name of Long Beach\u2019s new minor league baseball team.<\/p>\n
The result? Two names.<\/p>\n
The team announced Tuesday night in a press release that the new name will be the\u00a0Long Beach Coast.<\/p>\n

The name is a tribute to the city\u2019s eleven miles of coastline that tie the East Side and West Side together.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere ocean meets concrete, hustle meets chill and old school roots meet new school energy\u2026the Long Beach Coast celebrates the connective thread that runs through every part of the city,\u201d the\u00a0team\u2019s\u00a0press release reads. \u201cThe Coast will anchor the team\u2019s visual identity and presence, complemented by a dynamic alter ego.\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u00a0alter\u00a0ego? The\u00a0Long Beach Regulators.<\/p>\n
That name, of course, is derived from Long Beach native Warren G\u2019s song \u201cRegulate,\u201d a West Coast hip-hop classic with the late Nate Dogg.\u00a0Warren G himself endorsed the name.<\/p>\n

\u201cLong Beach has always set its own tone and had its own swagger,\u201d he said in the press release. \u201cThis baseball team, the Coast,\u00a0represents\u00a0the heart of the city \u2013 but the Regulators legacy will always be part of Long Beach culture.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0respect for where\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0been\u00a0and\u00a0excitement for where\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0going.\u201d<\/p>\n

The KTLA Morning News team was also a bit tripped up on the double name; however, KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo compared it to the L.A.
