FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Michele Cantwell-Copher, officially launched her re-election campaign Wednesday afternoon in downtown Fresno.<\/p>\n
Cantwell-Copher was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, becoming the first woman to serve as Fresno County Superintendent of Schools. <\/p>\n
During her most recent term, her office oversaw Fresno County\u2019s 34 school districts, and worked with more than 230,000 students across the region. <\/p>\n
Her tenure has included navigating pandemic era learning disruptions, expanding student support services and working with districts on school safety, attendance and academic recovery.<\/p>\n
Speaking at OnePutt Broadcasting on Fulton Street, Cantwell-Copher was joined by community leaders, elected officials and campaign supporters for a press conference formally kicking off her campaign.<\/p>\n
Cantwell-Copher reflected on her work over the past term:<\/p>\n
