(KGET) \u2014 If you noticed a strange smell wafting through the Bakersfield area Wednesday afternoon, you weren\u2019t alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Bakersfield Fire Department said a leaking regulator at a facility on Rosedale Highway near Fruitvale Avenue was the cause. The regulator was leaking mercaptan which caused the bad smell, but isn\u2019t hazardous, officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.kget.com\/plus\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Watch 17 News, After Sunrise and more local news free on your smart TV.
