LOGAN, Utah \u2013\u00a0Utah State women’s basketball fell on the road to Fresno State, 86-56, on Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Aggies opened the game in rhythm offensively, converting their first two possessions into a layup by senior guard\/forward Jamisyn Heaton<\/a> and a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Elise Livingston<\/a> to take an early lead. After the quick start, however, USU’s offense went cold as the Aggies shot 33.3 percent (9-of-27) from the floor in the opening half while FS managed a mark of 54.3 percent (19-of-35) en route to a 42-25 lead at halftime. A 17-5 Bulldog run in the first quarter gave the home side a double-digit lead which Utah State was unable to overcome through the remainder of the contest.<\/p>\n Livingston led the team with 16 points, including 12 in the opening half, on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor and a 3-of-4 showing from behind the arc. Heaton added 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting, also going 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Senior guard Karyn Sanford<\/a> led the team with three assists and two steals, also adding eight points and a block. Senior center Sophie Sene<\/a> added a team-high eight rebounds plus four points, a steal and a block.<\/p>\n USU finished the game shooting 40.0 percent (20-of-50) from the field and 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from 3-point range. The Aggies also shot 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the FT line.
