{"id":135898,"date":"2026-01-16T08:05:17","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T08:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/135898\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T08:05:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T08:05:17","slug":"sacramento-crime-down-12-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/135898\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento crime down 12% in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">(FOX40.COM) \u2014 Crime in the city of Sacramento decreased across the board in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to data released by the Sacramento Police Department on Thursday, the crime rate in all seven tracked categories contributed to a 12% drop from 2024 to 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Those categories are homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault \u2014 known broadly as violent crime \u2014 and burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft \u2014 broadly called property crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Video: Sacramento County Sheriff\u2019s Office discusses successes amid National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Violent crime fell by 10.4% from 2024 to 2025, dropping from 3,925 violent crimes to 3,518.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Robbery saw the most significant decrease among violent crimes, dropping by 12.4%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Aggravated assault fell by 11%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Homicide declined by 6.7%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Property crime declined even more, falling from 13,757 total incidents in 2024 to 11,994 in 2025 \u2014 a 12.8% change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Motor vehicle theft dropped 17.1%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Larceny-theft fell by 11.2%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">These crimes are tracked as part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation\u2019s Uniform Crime Reporting program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cSPD remains committed to addressing crime in our city through proactive policing, thorough investigations, and teamwork,\u201d the department said in a social media post. \u201cThank you to the members of the Sacramento Police Department who address these issues every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
