{"id":136385,"date":"2026-01-16T16:48:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T16:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/136385\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T16:48:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T16:48:08","slug":"mainers-gain-easier-access-to-west-coast-via-united-airlines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/136385\/","title":{"rendered":"Mainers gain easier access to West Coast via United Airlines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mainers looking to head out West this summer won\u2019t have to go as far to catch a flight.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning June 27, United Airlines will offer seasonal nonstop flights from Portland International Jetport to Los Angeles and San Francisco, according to Zachary Sundquist, the airport\u2019s assistant director.<\/p>\n<p>That service will be offered on Saturdays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis level of connectivity is truly remarkable and we are grateful for United\u2019s continued investment in the Portland market,\u201d Paul Bradbury, the airport\u2019s director, said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>Mainers can also catch flights out of Portland this summer to other United Airline hubs in Houston, New York City and Newark, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe addition of Los Angeles and San Francisco to our route network connects us with two of our top unserved markets and provides incredibly easy access to and from the west coast during our peak tourism season,\u201d Sundquist said. <\/p>\n<p>The Portland airport is the state\u2019s busiest. It saw record traffic in 2024, with <a href=\"https:\/\/portlandjetport.org\/airport-statistics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2.4 million passengers<\/a>, surpassing 2023\u2019s 2.2 million, according to data posted on the Portland International Jetport\u2019s website.
