{"id":136412,"date":"2026-01-16T17:15:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T17:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/136412\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T17:15:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T17:15:08","slug":"west-sacramento-celebrates-groundbreaking-of-river-grove-apartments-daily-democrat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/136412\/","title":{"rendered":"West Sacramento celebrates groundbreaking of River Grove Apartments \u2013 Daily Democrat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, Brinshore Development, Operative Office, New Hope Community Development Corporation, and Yolo County Housing celebrated the groundbreaking of River Grove Apartments, a 37-unit affordable housing development located at 641 5th Street in West Sacramento.<\/p>\n<p>The $27.7\u00a0million project will provide 36 rental homes for extremely low-income households, with a focus on serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and veterans experiencing homelessness.\u00a0The project is expected to\u00a0begin lease-up in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The multi-story, elevator-served building will include 32 two-bedroom and four one-bedroom apartments, plus one on-site manager\u2019s unit\u2014totaling approximately 28,000 square feet of residential space. The development features a dedicated community space for supportive services programming and is designed to meet California\u2019s current energy efficiency standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis affordable housing project serves as a critical part of our larger community health continuum,\u201d stated Yolo County Supervisor for District 1 Oscar Villegas. \u201cOur county safety net services and health programs can only do so much if our residents don\u2019t have an affordable and warm place to sleep at night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All 36 rental units will be affordable to extremely low-income households and supported by project-based vouchers from Yolo County Housing. Of these, 18 units will house individuals with IDD in partnership with Alta California Regional Center (ACRC), and four units will serve veterans through the HUD-VASH program. The John Stewart Company will provide property management services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project reflects the best of what public service can be: different sectors, different partners, all aligned around one shared goal \u2014 ensuring people have a safe, stable place to call home,\u201d stated West Sacramento District 3 councilmember and Commissioner for Yolo County Housing New Hope Community Development Corporation, Dr. Dawnt\u00e9\u202fEarly. \u201cFor me, this work is personal because at one point my family relied on affordable housing programs, and that access made it possible for us to call West Sacramento home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>River Grove Apartments will offer comprehensive on-site supportive services.\u00a0Residents will have access to a dedicated Service Coordinator who will connect them with community resources, advocate on their behalf, and organize community-building activities.<\/p>\n<p>A Supported Living Specialist will provide individual assistance to help residents maintain housing stability, build life skills, and access education and employment opportunities.
