BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) \u2014 A Fresno gang member arrested two years ago outside a McDonald\u2019s in McFarland pleaded no contest this week to being a felon in possession of a gun.<\/p>\n
Both Francisco Joaquin III and his girlfriend ended up in handcuffs after Joaquin ran from officers who contacted him at the restaurant on the night of Nov. 26, 2023, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
The officers were investigating a report of a fight and Joaquin said he wasn\u2019t involved then ran, documents said. \u201cLess-lethal\u201d weapons were used to take him into custody. The girlfriend allegedly tried to stop officers from arresting him.<\/p>\n
Police said a \u201cghost gun\u201d \u2014 a firearm with no serial number \u2014 was found on Joaquin.<\/p>\n
Four other charges were dismissed under the plea agreement. His sentencing hearing is scheduled March 25.<\/p>\n
His arrest came on a wild night in which hundreds of vehicles took part in a street takeover at locations in Delano and McFarland, prompting a large law enforcement response.<\/p>\n
Roughly 100 vehicles and hundreds of people gathered outside the McDonald\u2019s on West Sherwood Avenue. Police ordered the crowd to leave, and it had begun to disperse when officers received the report of the fight.<\/p>\n
