Oakland County couple stranded after truck stuck in dealership for over a month due to part delay<\/a><\/p>\nWebster initially took the truck in for maintenance after receiving a notice around Dec. 1. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was saying that my SD card was not reading,\u201d Webster said. <\/p>\n
When he went in for the appointment, he discovered another issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI attempted to shift into Four Wheel Drive, and it wouldn\u2019t shift,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The dealership told him his transmission was out. The truck is in pristine condition and is still under warranty.<\/p>\n
Webster thought getting it fixed shouldn\u2019t take too long. He was wrong.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am talking to the write-up guy, and he tells me point-blank, \u2018It could be six weeks,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
They told him it\u2019s because they can\u2019t get the General Motors parts fast enough. He says he called Chevrolet to try and get some answers.<\/p>\n
\u201cA few days back, I was in the line, going into one of the restaurants and the phone rang and it was this lady from GM,\u201d he said. \u201cShe says, \u2018Oh I have a case number for ya now.\u2019 I said I wasn\u2019t worried about the case number. I want my truck back.\u201d<\/p>\n
He had also contacted Chevrolet and was eventually assigned a case number, but was eager to get his truck back.<\/p>\n
Frustrated, Webster reached out to Local 4 for help and answers. <\/p>\n
After Local 4 contacted Chevrolet for comment, the automaker responded:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate you bringing this customer\u2019s case to our attention. With the help of GM\u2019s Customer Care team, as well as the careful support from the Vic Canever Chevrolet dealership personnel, the repair was covered at no cost to the customer under the vehicle\u2019s powertrain warranty. The truck has now been returned to its owner.\u201d<\/p>\n
