{"id":138389,"date":"2026-01-18T02:37:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T02:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/138389\/"},"modified":"2026-01-18T02:37:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-18T02:37:10","slug":"anaheim-man-arrested-on-federal-criminal-complaint-charging-him-with-making-death-threats-against-vice-president-jd-vance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/138389\/","title":{"rendered":"Anaheim Man Arrested on Federal Criminal Complaint Charging Him with Making Death Threats Against Vice President JD Vance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>January 17, 2026 \u2013 SANTA ANA, CA\u00a0\u2013 An Orange County man was arrested Friday on a federal criminal complaint alleging that he <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 10px; float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/j.d.vance-vice-president-2025.jpg\" alt=\"j.d.vance vice president 2025\"\/>posted on Instagram death threats against Vice President JD Vance during his visit to Disneyland Resort last year.<\/p>\n<p>Marco Antonio Aguayo, 22, of Anaheim, is charged with threats against the President and successors to the Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to make his initial appearance on Tuesday in United States District Court in Santa Ana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case is a horrific reminder of the dangers public officials face from deranged criminals who would do them harm,\u201d said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. \u201cI am grateful that my friend Vice President Vance and his family are safe, applaud the police work that led to the arrest, and will ensure my prosecutors deliver swift justice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not tolerate criminal threats against public officials,\u201d said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli. \u201cWe are grateful the Vice President and his family remained safe during their visit. Let this case be a warning to anyone who thinks they can make anonymous online threats. We will find you and bring you to justice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to an affidavit filed with the complaint, on July 12, 2025, Vice President Vance visited and stayed at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. On the same day, Aguayo posted several public comments on the Instagram account of The Walt Disney Company.<\/p>\n<p>The first comment read, \u201cPipe bombs have been placed in preparation for J.D. Vance\u2019s arrival.\u201d Another comment read, \u201cIt\u2019s time for us to rise up and you will be a witness to it.\u201d A third comment read, \u201cGood luck finding all of them on time there will be bloodshed tonight and we will bathe in the blood of corrupt politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later that day, law enforcement visited Aguayo at home. He surrendered his telephone to law enforcement, who observed the three threatening messages left concerning the Vice President.<\/p>\n<p>A complaint contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, Aguayo would face a statutory maximum sentence of five years in federal prison.<\/p>\n<p>The United States Secret Service is investigating this matter with assistance from the FBI and Anaheim Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Special Assistant United States Attorney Robert K.
