LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 17, 2026) \u2013 The Wyoming Cowboys couldn’t slow down the Fresno State offense in the closing minutes in a 63-60 road loss inside the Save mart Center in Fresno, Calif. on Saturday evening. Wyoming did not record a basket in the final three minutes of the contest in the loss. Wyoming drops to 11-7 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

\n“This was a make or miss game at the end or make them miss and get a stop game and we didn’t do that,” UW head coach Sundance Wicks<\/a> said. “It is good to be in the game on the road, but not good enough yet. This is a brutal league, and I told our guys this is a big test right now and a defining moment for our guys down this next stretch.”

\nWyoming shot 41 percent from the field in the contest with the Bulldogs shooting 41percent. Wyoming added 26 shooting from behind the arc with no makes in the second half. Wyoming held the Bulldogs to 17 percent from behind the arc. The Pokes held a 36-31 advantage on the glass.

\nThe Cowboys were led in scoring by Leland Walker<\/a> with 17 points. He also added five assists and four rebounds. Walker has scored in double-figures in 13th games this season. Nasir (Naz) Meyer<\/a> added 13 points and seven rebounds for his 13th game in double-figures as well. Damarion Dennis<\/a> added 10 points for his seventh game in double-figures. Gavin Gores<\/a> added seven rebounds to tie for the team lead.

\nWalker got the Pokes off to a fast start with seven points in the opening minutes, as UW would take a 10-2 lead. Meyer also added a triple off a Walker pass during the early run. Kiani Saxon<\/a> added a corner three-pointer and made it a 13-5 game, as Wyoming made its first three triples attempts of the game.

\nFresno State made it a four-point game, but Dennis added the fourth-straight make from three and UW moved the lead to seven with 14 minutes left in the first half. The Cowboys would then go on a scoring drought of over six minutes, as Fresno State made it a one-point game.

\nThe Bulldogs took a 20-18 lead with 6:18 left in the opening frame and pushed the lead to 22-18 on a fastbreak dunk. Wyoming held the Bulldogs scoreless for over three minutes and took a 25-23 lead on another Dennis triple with just over two minutes left in the first half.

\nThe Cowboys took a 27-26 lead into the break after Meyer added a bucket. Both teams were 10-of-26 from the field for 38.5 percent.

\nThe contest would remain a one-point game for the first four minutes of the second half until Meyer made it a 33-30 game with a driving layup. Uriyah Rojas<\/a> pushed the lead to five points with under 15 minutes left. The Bulldogs would make three-straight baskets and tie the game at 37-37 with under 13 minutes left.

\nDennis would get to double-figures and gave Wyoming a 41-39 lead with under 12 minutes left. The Pokes would go scoreless for nearly three minutes, and the Bulldogs would take a 44-43 lead with under eight minutes left.

\nAdam Harakow<\/a> got the Pokes out of the scoring slump with a trio of free throws to make it a 46-44 lead for the Cowboys at the 7:18 mark of the second frame. The two teams would then trade the lead over several minutes with Walker making it a 54-53 game at the free throw line with 4:36 left.

\nMeyer made it a 56-54 game with a jumper with 3:43 left in the game and once again the Bulldogs would battle and tie the game and then take a 60-58 lead at the free throw line with 1:59 remaining.

\nFresno State would add to the lead at the line for a 62-58 game with 1:02 remaining. Walker would add a pair of free throws himself and make it a 62-60 game with 53 seconds left. Wyoming had a chance to tie the game with under 30 seconds, but a missed shot led to a free throw on the other end and a 63-60 lead for Fresno State with nine seconds remaining.

\nThe Bulldogs were led by David Douglas Jr. and DeShawn Gory each added 13 points in the contest.

\nThe Cowboys return to action on Tuesday hosting Boise State in the Arena-Auditorium for a 6:30 p.m. start on the Mountain West Network.
