LONG BEACH, Calif. \u2013 The Long Beach State women’s tennis team continued play at the Beach Tennis Winter Invitational on Saturday, turning in a strong showing against CSUN on the second day of competition at the Rhodes Tennis Center.<\/p>\n
The Beach collected key wins in both doubles and singles action, highlighted by dominant performances across the lineup. Long Beach State earned two of three doubles victories to open the day, as the teams of Cecilia Costa<\/a> and Thea Jagare<\/a> and Paulina Franco and Johanna Hiesmair<\/a> each posted 6-3 wins. CSUN claimed the final doubles match, but the Beach carried momentum into singles play.<\/p>\n In singles, Long Beach State won five of six matches, with several decisive results. Jagare set the tone early with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory over Emma Moratella Sanz, while Diana De Simone<\/a> and Daria Malaescu<\/a> followed with identical 6-1, 6-0 wins at their respective positions. Pamela Badillo<\/a> added a 6-1, 6-2 victory, and Daisy Carpenter<\/a> closed the lineup with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 performance. Costa battled in a tightly contested match before falling in a second-set tiebreak.<\/p>\n The session also featured Cal State Fullerton and Denver squaring off in hidden dual action. Fullerton swept all three doubles matches to take early control, while singles play was closely contested on multiple courts.
