Nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be revealed Thursday in a livestream that\u2019s sure to spur some chatter. While critics seem to agree on a few locks<\/a>, as this month\u2019s Golden Globes \u2014 and last year\u2019s Oscars<\/a>, for that matter \u2014 proved<\/a>, there\u2019s always room for surprise. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s everything you need to know about the announcement. <\/p>\n

How can I watch?<\/p>\n

Actors Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman will announce the nominees in all 24 categories, including the new casting award, in a livestream from the Academy\u2019s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The presentation will kick off at 5:30 a.m. Pacific, and viewers can tune in live to the Academy\u2019s website<\/a> and social media platforms or to ABC\u2019s \u201cGood Morning America.\u201d It will also stream on \u201cABC News Live,\u201d Disney+ and Hulu. American Sign Language services will be available on YouTube. Nine of the categories will be revealed at 5:30 a.m., and the 15 remaining ones will be announced at 5:41 a.m. after a short break. <\/p>\n

Brooks received an Oscar nomination for her role in \u201cThe Color Purple\u201d (2024), and Pullman starred in \u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d which won the Oscar for sound in 2023. He also co-starred alongside Amanda Seyfried in \u201cThe Testament of Ann Lee,\u201d another awards contender this season. <\/p>\n

When are the Oscars?<\/p>\n

The 98th Academy Awards will take place on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC, with streaming available on Hulu. The show starts at 4 p.m. Pacific.<\/p>\n

Who\u2019s hosting the awards show?<\/p>\n

Conan O\u2019Brien will return as host after his knockout performance in 2025, which helped the show draw its biggest audience in five years.<\/p>\n

Who are the projected front-runners?<\/p>\n

Ryan Coogler\u2019s horror standout \u201cSinners\u201d is projected to lead nominations with as many as 15. Along with Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s \u201cOne Battle After Another,\u201d the film may tie or even break the record for most Oscar nominations (14), which was first set by \u201cAll About Eve\u201d (1951) and later matched by \u201cTitanic\u201d (1998) and \u201cLa La Land\u201d (2017). <\/p>\n

Other top contenders include Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u2019s \u201cHamnet,\u201d which took the best drama Golden Globe, Joachim Trier\u2019s \u201cSentimental Value\u201d and Josh Safdie\u2019s \u201cMarty Supreme.\u201d Plus, after \u201cThe Secret Agent\u201d notched a couple Globes wins, the Brazilian political thriller has its sights set on an Oscar next. <\/p>\n

As for the individual categories, \u201cHamnet\u2019s\u201d Jessie Buckley is a sure bet for actress, and Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio are shoo-ins for their roles in \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d and \u201cOne Battle,\u201d respectively.
