{"id":139119,"date":"2026-01-18T17:10:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T17:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/139119\/"},"modified":"2026-01-18T17:10:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-18T17:10:22","slug":"carolina-hurricanes-acquire-d-kyle-masters-from-san-jose-sharks-in-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/139119\/","title":{"rendered":"Carolina Hurricanes acquire D Kyle Masters from San Jose Sharks in trade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/carolina-hurricanes\/12\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/carolina-hurricanes\/12\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> have acquired defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kyle-masters\/8482707\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kyle-masters\/8482707\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Masters<\/a> and a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft, the team announced on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The pick going to San Jose originally belonged to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/chicago-blackhawks\/16\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/chicago-blackhawks\/16\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>, and was acquired by Carolina in a deal during the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Masters, 22, has appeared in 10 games for the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL this season, and has recorded three assists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Originally selected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/minnesota-wild\/30\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/minnesota-wild\/30\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Masters has played 35 games at the American Hockey League level with a goal and six points.
