Fresno police are investigating a homicide after a man was fatally shot during a large disturbance Sunday afternoon in central Fresno, the department said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Central Policing District responded at 2:43 p.m. to the intersection of Angus Street and Yale Avenue after receiving reports of a large disturbance involving multiple people. While officers were en route, additional 911 calls reported that someone had been shot, police said.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found Juan Alvarez, 26, on the ground and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the upper body.<\/p>\n
Officers and emergency medical personnel provided first aid before Alvarez was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. He died Monday, police said.<\/p>\n
Detectives determined that a large disturbance involving several people was occurring near the intersection at the time Alvarez was shot.<\/p>\n

Investigators are tracking down video footage and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify anyone who may have information, police said.<\/p>\n
