(WLOX) &#8211; Long Beach will discuss lowering another speed limit on Tuesday, which would be the third speed limit to be lowered in a month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This time, the city will discuss lowering the speed limit in the Castine Pointe subdivision from 25 miles per hour to 20. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"The city will discuss lowering the speed limit in the subdivision from 25 miles per hour to 20.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WXC2PE3Q55F3HJJ5XEWWS4VI7A.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>The city will discuss lowering the speed limit in the subdivision from 25 miles per hour to 20.(WLOX)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Ward 6 Alderman Pete McGoey tells WLOX News that several residents reached out to him, worried about the safety of kids in the neighborhood with the current speed limit. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">McGoey says the proposal isn\u2019t about golf carts or tickets, but the safety of children in the subdivision. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WLOX News spoke to residents about what the changes would mean and what they would like to see changed in the subdivision. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLowering the speed limit to 20 would be good. You know, I\u2019ve just noticed people are kind of flying through this neighborhood a lot, and there\u2019s a lot of cars parked on the street, so sometimes it can be scary,\u201d Brandon Beatty said, who has lived in the subdivision since 2019. \u201cSometimes it can be scary when people are driving by and, you know, you never know what your kids are gonna do, so I think moving it to 20 certainly wouldn\u2019t hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIf there were police here, especially when school lets out, it\u2019s really the young drivers that they\u2019re in a hurry to get to where they want to get to, and they\u2019re the ones who need to learn to slow down, and whatever they\u2019re trying to get to, it\u2019s not as important,\u201d Kelly Sappington said, who has lived in the subdivision since 2018. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Long Beach Board of Aldermen will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at City Hall. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">See a spelling or grammar error in this story?
