A 38-year-old man who was killed in Carson when a minivan and a car collided on the Gardena (91) Freeway was identified Tuesday by county authorities.<\/p>\n
The crash was reported at 12:38 a.m. Monday on the westbound Gardena Freeway just west of Central Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
Both vehicles were blocking the HOV lane, the CHP said.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner\u2019s office identified the victim as Matthew Hellums, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.<\/p>\n
A news videographer who went to the scene said one injured person was taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n
The CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down the westbound HOV lane and lanes 1, 2 and 3.
