D. Tyler Tharpe and Gregory Fain had not pulled papers to run again as of last week. Neither Tharpe nor Fain returned messages seeking details about their future plans.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/static.gvwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/21094549\/Politics-101-logo.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-103505\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Politics-101-logo-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The other 15 incumbents pulled papers to run again. Sitting judges have until Feb. 4 to decide whether to seek re-election. The filing period would extend to Feb. 9 for challengers if an incumbent does not file.<\/p>\n<p>Three Ready to Run<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Hamilton, Daniel Brickey and Noelle Pebet \u2014 all commissioners in the Fresno County Superior Court system \u2014 told GV Wire they are seeking a voter-approved promotion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/courts.ca.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/courts\/default\/2024-12\/additional-pathways.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Court commissioners<\/a> are appointed by judges to perform judicial functions and can act as temporary judges in cases.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI intend to run if there is an open seat available,\u201d Hamilton told GV Wire. \u201cI would be honored to serve as a judge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton has served as a court commissioner for six years and supervises the family division.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the work I already perform as a court commissioner, and encouragement from colleagues and members of the legal community, I intend to run for Superior Court judge if a seat opens,\u201d Pebet said.<\/p>\n<p>She has served as a commissioner for seven years and was a Fresno County deputy district attorney for 12 years before that.<\/p>\n<p>Brickey has served as a commissioner for three years and currently works in the criminal felony department.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been proud to serve the people of Fresno County throughout my career and hope to continue to do so,\u201d Brickey said.<\/p>\n<p>If an incumbent faces no challenger, that judgeship will not appear on the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Villaraigosa Heads to Fresno for Fundraiser<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gvwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1_Lede_Antonio-Villaraigosa.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-212355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1_Lede_Antonio-Villaraigosa-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"  \/><\/a>Antonio Villaraigosa<\/p>\n<p>Antonio Villaraigosa will return to Fresno next month to raise funds for his campaign for governor. Several prominent developers and farmers are hosting the event.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis Parnagian, Ed Kashian, Sal Gonzales, and Stuart Woolf will host the evening event Feb. 4 at a location that has not been publicly disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Suggested contributions range from the \u201cguest\u201d level at $500 to the \u201cplatinum\u201d level at $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>Villaraigosa has made several Central Valley appearances during his latest campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Leon Barraza Running Again<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/static.gvwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/03151515\/Jose-Leon-Barraza-headshot-300X300.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-172483\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Jose-Leon-Barraza-headshot-300X300-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"  \/><\/a>Jose Leon Barraza<\/p>\n<p>Jose Leon Barraza is making another run for Fresno City Council. He announced he is running in the June 2 primary to represent District 5 in southeast Fresno.<\/p>\n<p>Leon Barraza is a city parks commissioner and former CEO of the nonprofit Southeast Fresno Community Economic Development Association. He cites blight reduction and economic development as his top priorities.<\/p>\n<p>He advocates finishing current projects before pursuing development in the Southeast Development Area.<\/p>\n<p>Voters have said no several times to Leon Barraza \u2014 2010, 2016 special election,\u00a0 2018, and the 2025 special election.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Brandon Vang is running for re-election.
