BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A man arrested for allegedly killing a 78-year-old man nearly 17 years ago pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

35-year-old David Angulo was initially arrested for driving under the influence by the San Bernardino County Sheriff\u2019s Department (SBSD). During their investigation, SBSD deputies learned Angulo may have been connected to a prior homicide investigation. Angulo was later released on the DUI charge.<\/p>\n

SBSD investigators contacted the Kern County Sheriff\u2019s Office regarding the information they had obtained. KCSO homicide detectives confirmed the information was related to a 2008 homicide.<\/p>\n

KCSO said on November 25, 2008, deputies responded to the 18000 block of B Street in North Edwards, regarding a death investigation. When deputies arrived, they found 78-year-old Thomas Charles Horton dead inside a home.<\/p>\n

With the help of the San Bernardino County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Angulo was arrested for the murder on October 17, 2025.<\/p>\n

Angulo made his first court appearance on January 21, where he pleaded not guilty. He was given no bail.<\/p>\n
