Jan. 16, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez grew up in the Excelsior, enjoying slices from Bravo. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/bayarea\/heatherknight\/article\/Bid-to-open-S-F-ice-cream-shop-turns-into-a-15614815.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yu<\/a>, who grew up in Chinatown and currently resides in the Excelsior, was most recently in the news for spending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/local\/heatherknight\/article\/s-f-ice-cream-shop-hopeful-sees-dreams-melted-by-16116082.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$200,000<\/a> trying to open a soft-serve matcha ice cream shop in the Mission District. Yu abandoned that plan, he said at the time, due to spiralling permitting costs. Among them: hiring a lawyer after a co-founder of a nearby ice cream shop, Garden Creamery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/food\/article\/S-F-ice-cream-shop-contested-an-Asian-owned-16133128.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">filed an objection<\/a> that pushed Yu into a hearing before the Planning Commission.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2021, Yu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/local\/heatherknight\/article\/s-f-ice-cream-shop-hopeful-sees-dreams-melted-by-16116082.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">publicly vowed<\/a> he\u2019d never again try to open another business in San Francisco. Apparently, times have changed. The duo is trying to preserve the old flavors with a new twist, says Hernandez. The pizzas will be made from the same two-pounder deep dish dough, but with an option to make it garlic crust. The shop will keep its mix of Italian and American classics. Jan. 21, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Beija Flor Designs, a flower shop in the Excelsior, appears to have vacated its storefront at 4786 Mission Street, at Russia Avenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Its Instagram account, however, is still active.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not be taking Valentine\u2019s Day orders this year,\u201d read a story posted on Jan. 13, 2026. \u201cWe are still booking for weddings, special events. Jan. 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The once-empty storefront at 5050 Mission St. in a <a href=\"https:\/\/missionlocal.org\/2023\/07\/as-vacancies-continue-mixed-use-buildings-struggle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">newly constructed complex<\/a> is now home to Los Olivos Store, a new corner store located at the intersection of Seneca Avenue and Mission Street. The new store shares the same name and brand design as the grocery store at 4766 Mission St. Messages for both shops have not been returned.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new store opens daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Jan. 14, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Claudio\u2019s Auto Repair at 4420 Mission St., which has a cult following in the city, is considering\u00a0 expanding into the spot formerly occupied by C&amp;P Auto Body Repair, located at 4352 Mission St. The idea comes from Giovanna Hrvatin, who has been running Claudio\u2019s with her son Renzo since the death of her husband, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tributearchive.com\/obituaries\/29815294\/claudio-hrvatin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Claudio Hrvatin<\/a>, in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Hrvatins own both buildings, she said, but renovating the aging C&amp;P shop on Mission Street between Theresa and Tingley street would require a lot of effort.
