SAN JOSE \u2014 Western Digital Technologies eliminated just under 100 jobs in the Bay Area, according to a WARN notice the tech firm filed with the state Employment Development Department.<\/p>\n

The data storage company cut 87 jobs at its head offices at 5601 Great Oaks Parkway in South San Jose, according to the notice. The layoffs took place on Jan. 20, the WARN letter revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one will have the right to bump or displace other employees,\u201d Kim Roa, senior director of employee relations at Western Digital, wrote in the WARN letter to the EDD. \u201cThere is no union representing the affected employees.\u201d<\/p>\n

The layoffs are permanent, Western Digital stated.<\/p>\n

By happenstance, a Morgan Stanley real estate investment unit paid $110.3 million for a two-building tech complex in Fremont that\u2019s occupied by Western Digital Technologies<\/a>, documents filed on Jan. 6 with the Alameda County Recorder\u2019s Office show.<\/p>\n

Western Digital is the tenant in the two-building tech campus, whose addresses are 44100 and 44200 Osgood Rd. in Fremont.<\/p>\n
