FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 The Fresno Police Department have arrested three people in two separate incidents involving United States Postal Service (USPS) employees. <\/p>\n
The first incident happened Tuesday afternoon, around 2:20 p.m., near North Marks and West Dakota avenues. <\/p>\n
Officers responded to reports that a USPS mail carrier had been assaulted while delivering mail to a community mailbox.<\/p>\n
Police say the employee was attacked after a suspect demanded money. <\/p>\n
Investigators say the victim was repeatedly struck in the head and face and placed in a chokehold, making it difficult to breathe. <\/p>\n
No property was taken during the attack.<\/p>\n
Detectives later identified two suspects connected to the assault. <\/p>\n
Ramey warrants were issued, and both were taken into custody Wednesday.<\/p>\n
They are facing charges of attempted robbery and assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury and were booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus.<\/p>\n
In a separate incident the same day, officers responded to reports of another USPS employee who had a knife pulled out on him in the area of East Cornell and North Maroa avenues. <\/p>\n
That USPS employee reported that a man pulled out a knife after the mail carrier used pepper spray to stop an aggressive dog while delivering mail.<\/p>\n
Detectives identified the attacker as Brett Timothy Thomas. <\/p>\n
While the postal worker initially did not want to press charges, investigators reviewed video of the incident and later obtained a Ramey warrant. <\/p>\n
Thomas was arrested and is expected to be booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of pulling out a weapon and possession of a dagger.<\/p>\n
