(WJRT) &#8211; A California woman has been arrested for allegedly scamming two elderly people in Midland County out of more than $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>Police say 44-year-old Yahui Zhu from California was arraigned on one count of false pretenses of $20,000 or more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mspbayregion\/status\/2014404930224726188\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Michigan State Police<\/a> began to investigate just after Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Police say an 82-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman lost more than $100,000 due to gift cards, cryptocurrency and other scams.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they were able to catch Zhu as she tried an in-person cash exchange.<\/p>\n<p>Zhu was arrested on Jan. 16, before being arraigned a few days later.<\/p>\n<p>She was given a $500,000 cash\/surety bond.
