FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) \u2014 A demonstration filled Downtown Fresno streets on Tuesday, as protesters gathered outside the ICE office on L Street to condemn ICE activity nationwide.<\/p>\n

It comes as the second Trump administration reaches its one-year mark.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not look the other way. I will not remain silent anymore,\u201d said protester Elsa Hernandez, draped in a green gown representing the Statue of Liberty.<\/p>\n

She stood among a crowd of more than 50 people, all on alert after reports of ICE activity in Clovis the day before.<\/p>\n

The display comes as protests intensify across the country, most notably in Minneapolis, following the shooting of Renee Good.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, the President addressed ICE\u2019s recent actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re going to make mistakes sometimes. ICE is going to be too rough with somebody, you know, they deal with rough people,\u201d President Trump said.<\/p>\n

Atticus Martin, an organizer with the Central Valley Party for Socialism and Liberation, is now calling on people in the Valley to act as legal observers, the same role Good was performing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really need more people to be out there doing legal observer work and really being involved in the community,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n

Tuesday afternoon, ABC News reported the Department of Justice had issued grand jury subpoenas to several Minnesota officials.<\/p>\n

Many in that state are now preparing for a \u201cstatewide shutdown\u201d strike this Friday.<\/p>\n

Martin says the movement will have the support of Valley protesters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shouldn\u2019t be treating anybody of any background with that kind of violence and terror. This general strike is the most effective way to protect our communities and bring ICE to a stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
