CALIFORNIA (FOX26) \u2014 An earthquake swarm in southern California on Tuesday started with a 4.9 magnitude and was followed by over 250 aftershocks.<\/p>\n

The United States Geological Survey says the 4.9 earthquake hit near Indio in the Coachella Valley.<\/p>\n

That quake was then followed by over a dozen aftershocks including a 3.9 magnitude that shook homes as far as Los Angeles and San Diego, impacting millions of people.<\/p>\n

Over 24 hours, there were over 250 aftershocks, with scientists saying there is a 98% chance of more quakes above 3.0 magnitude.<\/p>\n

The earthquakes are creating a growing concern for the Mission Creek strand which scientists say may be storing centuries of “pent-up stress.”<\/p>\n
