At a time when issues like immigration and ICE detentions continue<\/a> to affect many families in Fresno, the Latino community is finding ways to come together and stay connected. Events featuring live music, dance, and art exhibits throughout the rest of the month will celebrate the region\u2019s vibrant Latin culture and the resilience of its communities.<\/p>\n

Here are some events in Fresno that the Fresno Bee has identified:<\/p>\n

Hollywood Icon Danny Trejo to speak at Fresno City College<\/p>\n

The Fresno City College community will gather<\/a> Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to noon for a special Speakers Forum event featuring actor and activist Danny Trejo in the OAB Auditorium. Students, faculty, and community members are welcomed to hear a live conversation with Trejo who will share his life story \u2014 from incarceration and recovery to a decades-long Hollywood career. Admission is free, and a livestream via Zoom will be available. Zoom attendees need to register<\/a> in advance.<\/p>\n

Fresno Tenants Union Meeting<\/p>\n

The Fresno Tenants Union will be having a meeting this Sunday, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. at Broadway Parque. The union is calling on tenants to hold loval govenrment accountable to the programs that keep \u201chousing stock healthy\u201d. The group is calling on folks to reimagine the housing system. They say a light dinner will be offered.<\/p>\n

Magical Mexican Folk Art Comes to Fresno: Alebrijes y Nahuales<\/p>\n

The Fresno community is invited<\/a> to see \u201cAlebrijes y Nahuales: Fantastic Animals from Mexico\u201d at Arte Am\u00e9ricas\u2019 Plaza Paz, CSU Fresno, and Fresno City College through January 2026. The exhibits feature larger-than-life sculptures inspired by Mexican folk art and magical realism. Arte Am\u00e9ricas\u2019 galleries are open Friday\u2013Sunday, 10 a.m.\u20134 p.m.<\/p>\n

Artists Wanted: Submit Work for 13th Annual Arts Alive in Agriculture<\/p>\n

Central Valley artists are invited to submit<\/a> their work for the 13th Annual Arts Alive in Agriculture: A Juried Exhibition before Friday, Feb. 6. Artists are called on to share original artworks inspired by the region\u2019s agricultural landscapes, people, machines, and traditions. Submissions are open for painting, photography, sculpture, and more.<\/p>\n

Tejano Night in Fresno: Conjunto CALIFAS Live<\/p>\n

The Fresno community will celebrate<\/a> Tejano music on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Marlo\u2019s Club & Mexican Restaurant, 468 N Palm Ave, with Conjunto CALIFAS \u2014 A Tejano Night. The event will feature live music from Conjunto CALIFAS and DJ ACE, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary Latin rhythms. Attendees can enjoy dancing and food in as a community. Tickets are $20 in advance, which includes a free table reservation. Reservations can be made by calling 559\u2011709\u20111706.<\/p>\n

Celebrate Latin Rhythms at Fresno\u2019s Cumbia Night<\/p>\n

Fresno will host<\/a> a Cumbia Dance Party on Friday, Jan. 30, at Sanctuary, 712 Fulton Ave, starting at 9 p.m. The night features live cumbia music and dancing, offering Latin rhythms in a vibrant community setting.<\/p>\n
