Kaiser Permanente braces for potential strike by 2,800 health care workers in Northern California

In a statement to FOX40, the diocese said Bishop Jaime Soto made the decision after what it described as “prayerful discernment” with the Sacramento Board of Catholic Schools and the pastors of St. Charles Borromeo School, St. Patrick Academy, and St. Robert School.

The diocese says the move is rooted in the mission of Catholic education to help children grow in faith, wisdom, and character while also addressing challenges many schools face today, including declining enrollment and rising operational costs.

By uniting the three communities, the diocese says it aims to responsibly manage resources, strengthen academic and formation programs, and ensure a stable future for Catholic education in South Sacramento.

The diocese acknowledged the decision brings a range of emotions for families, students, and educators and said it is committed to supporting them through the transition.

Bishop Soto was not available for an interview, according to the diocese.
