HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TNND) \u2014 Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent insulted California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Responding to Newsom\u2019s recent comparison of President Donald Trump to a Tyrannosaurus rex, Bessent made his own dinosaur comparison for the governor.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo say strange things like, \u2018President Trump is a Tyrannosaurus rex,\u2019 what the hell does that mean?\u201d Bessent said in a Politico interview<\/a>. \u201cI could say Gavin Newsom is a brontosaurus with a brain the size of a walnut.\u201d<\/p>\n Newsom told international press on Tuesday that Trump is like a T. Rex who either mates with or \u201cdevours\u201d people. A reporter had told the governor, who was attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that European leaders<\/a> view their interaction with the president as a form of diplomacy.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is diplomacy with Donald Trump? He\u2019s a T. rex. You mate with him or he devours you. One or the other,\u201d Newsom replied.<\/p>\n Newsom attended the World Economic Forum<\/a> with Trump, Bessent and other American officials. The governor accused Europeans of placating Trump, asserting that he should have brought kneepads for officials meeting with the president.<\/p>\n “I can\u2019t take this complicity. People rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of kneepads for all the world leaders,\u201d Newsom said. <\/p>\n \u201cI mean, handing out crowns and handing out \u2013 I mean this is pathetic. Nobel Prizes, they\u2019re being given away. I mean, it\u2019s just pathetic.\u201d<\/p>\n Bessent said in his interview that the governor is breaking down over some issues.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Gavin Newsom may be cracking up with some of these things he\u2019s saying. I think he may be in over his hairdo, and being on the national stage is very different than being governor of California with no signature achievements,\u201d the secretary said.<\/p>\n The National News Desk requested comment from the governor but hasn\u2019t received a response. His press office has called <\/a>Bessent \u201cBootlickin\u2019 Scott\u201d since the interview, though, and mocked him on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cScott Bessent flew across the ocean to star in The Real Housewives of Davos \u2014 and can\u2019t stop talking about how \u2018hot\u2019 he thinks @CAGovernor ‘Davos\u2019 Daddy’ Newsom is. Weird!\u201d the office wrote <\/a>on X.<\/p>\n
