{"id":148731,"date":"2026-01-25T07:36:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T07:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/148731\/"},"modified":"2026-01-25T07:36:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T07:36:12","slug":"which-streets-made-the-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/148731\/","title":{"rendered":"Which streets made the list?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">SAN DIEGO (FOX 5\/KUSI) \u2014 The City of San Diego announced Thursday that 14 roadways and intersections throughout the county have been prioritized as \u201chigh-crash locations\u201d and will potentially receive safety enhancements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 14 areas were identified after the City of San Diego\u2019s Traffic Engineering team reviewed 2024 collision data and evaluated intersections with five or more injuries or fatal crashes. The data also looks at patterns, street segments with the most injury crashes and intersections with the most pedestrian-involved collisions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The\u00a0following\u00a0locations\u00a0have been\u00a0prioritized\u00a0for further traffic engineering evaluation and potential safety enhancements:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Transportation crews have already begun working on safety improvements in some of the areas, including segments of Fairmount Ave., Main St., Mission Gorge Rd., and Imperial Ave. However, some enhancements must be completed through the City\u2019s Capital Improvement Program\u00a0and require additional\u00a0funding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The safety recommendations for these 14 locations include additional signs, flashing beacons, and crosswalks to improve drivers\u2019 visibility of pedestrians entering the intersections. The recommendations also call for upgrading traffic signal lights,\u00a0replacing\u00a0or adding speed limit signs,\u00a0and\u00a0installing\u00a0pedestrian countdown timers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Some intersections may also receive additional red curbs to comply with the new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240AB413\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Assembly Bill 413, the \u201cDaylighting Law,\u201d;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Assembly Bill 413, the \u201cDaylighting Law,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which prohibits\u00a0parking within 20 feet of a marked or unmarked crosswalk.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"ct:story;elm:img;itc:0;\" class=\"stretched-box\" href=\"https:\/\/fox5sandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-24-194024.png\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><img alt=\"&lt;em&gt;&lt;span&gt;Assembly Bill 413, the \u201cDaylighting Law,\u201d which prohibits &lt;\/span&gt;parking within 20 feet of a marked or unmarked crosswalk.&lt;\/em&gt;\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"317\" height=\"320\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/f61fc15e2747bf9f256af8ed70e4a343.jpeg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Assembly Bill 413, the \u201cDaylighting Law,\u201d which prohibits parking within 20 feet of a marked or unmarked crosswalk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The City\u2019s Transportation Department conducts a city-wide crash analysis each year as one of several tools to help determine policy decisions and safety investments.
