CLAREMONT, CA \u2013 The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos Men’s and Women’s swim teams were both victorious today in the dual meet at Claremont McKenna College. The Women’s score finished:UCSB 185, Claremont McKenna: 76. The Men’s team secured the win over Claremont 167-93.
\nHow It Happened
\nThe Blue and Gold set the tone early on the road today; both the Men’s and Women’s 200 Yard Medley relay teams took first and second place to start the day. Aneesh Veeravatnam<\/a>, Trent Stegina<\/a>, Bryden Thienlenhaus, and Mason Wendler<\/a> posted a first-place time of 1:30.08. Lucas Hubbard<\/a>, Michael Peterson, Zachary Tamusaitis<\/a>, and Elek Zettle<\/a> were right behind them, clinching the one-two punch (1:30.57). CoCo Quill, Miranda Steven Stevenson, Caitlin Brown<\/a>, and Alexi Zuckerman<\/a> (1:42.23) followed up the Men’s win with a win of their own. Makena Leacox<\/a>, Morgan Hoppe<\/a>, Greta Callison, and Eugenie Lanilis<\/a> finished second (1:42.63) to continue the Gauchos hot start.
\nThe Gaucho domination is best described as consistent, as they have extended their dual-meet win streak to three straight. On the road today, the Blue and Gold rattled off 22 straight first-place finishes.
\nA Look Ahead
