(FOX40.COM) \u2014 FOX40 is taking you from Sacramento, all the way to the heart of the East Coast, where they\u2019re experiencing some fierce winter weather.<\/p>\n
Bruce Phillips and Judy Kaye, from Providence, Rhode Island, landed in Sacramento Sunday evening. They were returning from a family trip to Cabo.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany of the guests from the wedding, not all, but many of them, were from the East Coast,\u201d Phillips said. \u201cThose who flew in for the wedding and we\u2019re supposed to be flying home today \u2014 all the flights are canceled.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to FlightAware.com, as of 8 p.m. Sunday, at least 56 flights were delayed and 19 were cancelled at Sacramento International Airport.<\/p>\n
Phillips and Kaye made it to Northern California, where the weather is a bit tamer than New England right now. Still, the ongoing delays across the country actually impacted them too \u2014 in an unusual way.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur flight was 20 minutes early and it took us 20 minutes early,\u201d Phillips said. \u201cI just think that since there are so few aircraft flying, there was room to take off.\u201d<\/p>\n
And now, FOX40 is switching gears from California\u2019s Capital to our Nation\u2019s Capital. That\u2019s where Nick Baldwin and Sachin Swami took in the D.C. city views under a blanket of white. For them, air travel is out of the picture.<\/p>\n
\u201cD.C. Reagan airport is closed and so is Dulles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Swami\u2019s coworkers were supposed to fly out West for a conference, but the weather changed the plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey all had to cancel last night because it\u2019s literally completely closed and they can\u2019t take off,\u201d Swami said.<\/p>\n
In the same way that Lake Tahoe is prepared for icy conditions, up North, the snow is less of a concern, but in places like D.C., Baldwin and Swami told FOX40 that grocery stores are pretty much bone dry. They added that most major businesses are closed and overall, it\u2019s been an adjustment.<\/p>\n
\u201cRoads are really horrible and people cannot drive. Yeah. I mean, I saw so many cars get stuck. If you turn the camera around, you can see another car getting stuck right now,\u201d they said before flipping the camera to show cars struggling in the snow. \u201cI mean, this they just plowed this road, so it\u2019s like, this is the road.\u201d<\/p>\n
Swami said he saw at least 20-30 cars without Four Wheel Drive get stuck outside his D.C. window.<\/p>\n
Whether you\u2019re keeping it local or trying to figure out how to make it to your plans out East, people told FOX40 they\u2019re maintaining a sunny disposition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think people in D.C. are having fun with the snow. I think we\u2019re making the most of it, we\u2019re having a very good time,\u201d Baldwin and Swami agreed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to go to Lake Tahoe for a few days. It seems to be the only place that didn\u2019t get snow this week, so we\u2019ll see!\u201d Kaye laughed.<\/p>\n
In an infographic on their social media pages, Sacramento International Airport urged all travelers for the next few days or so to check their flight status directly through their airline before heading to the airport.<\/p>\n
