BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Five people were arrested at a motel on Union Avenue after officers allegedly found drugs, more than $14,000, and a gun.<\/p>\n

The Bakersfield Police Department said the arrest and discovery were made on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at the Sunland Motel on Union Avenue.<\/p>\n

60-year-old Chuck Bibb, 34-year-old Sandra Slaydon, 21-year-old Esteban Valdivia, 24-year-old Victor Mora, and 32-year-old Pedro Cabrales were arrested for various narcotics and firearm charges.<\/p>\n

All were booked into the Lerdo Detention Facility.<\/p>\n

Police said following an investigation, officers with BPD\u2019s Impact Unit learned that multiple people were allegedly distributing illegal narcotics from the motel, located at 1000 South Union Avenue. Through surveillance, the investigation revealed that three motel rooms were being used to sell narcotics, primarily to the homeless population.<\/p>\n

With the help from the BPD\u2019s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), a search warrant was executed at the motel. In total, officers seized about $14,251 in U.S. currency, one-half pound of suspected fentanyl, several ounces of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine base and a gun.<\/p>\n

In a release, the department said, \u201cThe Bakersfield Police Department remains committed to working collaboratively to suppress the distribution of illegal narcotics, particularly those targeting the homeless population.
