MALAGA, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Residents of Malaga are advised to boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking and cooking after E. coli was detected in a routine water sample.<\/p>\n
The sample were collected last Tuesday and Wednesday by the Malaga County Water District.<\/p>\n
Although E. coli was not found in repeat samples taken on Wednesday, officials are still urging caution.<\/p>\n
Residents are instructed to boil water for one minute and let it cool before use. <\/p>\n
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. <\/p>\n
The advisory is expected to be resolved within a week.<\/p>\n
For those unable to boil water, officials recommend using household unscented liquid bleach or water disinfection tablets, following specific guidelines to ensure safety. <\/p>\n
Residents with questions about other uses of tap water, such as bathing and dishwashing, are encouraged to contact their water system or consult the CDC guidance online.<\/p>\n
