The marketplace offers coverage to roughly two million people, but the health insurance landscape is facing significant uncertainty, after federal tax credits expired at the end of last year which could cause premiums to skyrocket. Covered California Executive Director Jessica Altman and <a href=\"https:\/\/health.ucdavis.edu\/medical-center\/team\/1032\/sergio-aguilar-gaxiola---internal-medicine\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola<\/a>, Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at UC Davis\u00a0join Insight to talk about how they are navigating these challenges, and what resources are available for those looking to enroll.<\/p>\n<p>Trans Youth Court Cases<\/p>\n<p>California is considered <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/education\/2026\/01\/trans-students-california\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a relatively safe place for transgender youth<\/a>, but there is growing concern that the Trump Administration is working to change that. <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/author\/carolyn-jones\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carolyn Jones<\/a> is the K-12 Education Reporter for CalMatters and she joins us today to discuss a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/newsletter\/scotus-transgender-rulings\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">California policies that may be at risk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>CalMatters is a nonprofit newsroom that partners with public media stations across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Vic\u2019s Ice Cream Reopens<\/p>\n<p>For generations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vicsicecream.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vic\u2019s Ice Cream<\/a> has been a landmark for Sacramentans with a sweet tooth. Established in the Land Park neighborhood in 1947, the shop is known for serving handmade ice cream and classic sandwiches, but many feared for its future following the death of its owner in March 2024. But after a year of renovations Vic\u2019s has reopened, under local family ownership, and is maintaining its nostalgic spirit.
