LET’S GET OVER TO DIRK, WHO’S GOT A PRETTY COOL SCENE BEHIND HIM. NOW. I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ANY MURMURING GOING ON, BECAUSE WE WANT TO SEE THE MURMURING GOING ON. THAT’S WHAT’S GOING ON HERE. USUALLY A MURMUR IS WHEN YOU SEE STARLINGS, THEY GET TOGETHER AND YOU HAVE THIS BIG FLOCK OF STARLINGS AND THEY CREATE SHAPES IN THE SKY, BUT IT ALSO CAN BE DONE WITH SNOW GEESE. AND THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE HERE. ALTHOUGH SNOW GEESE FLYING AROUND, IT’S AMAZING WHEN YOU GET THOSE BIG FLOCKS, THEY COME TOGETHER AND THEY JUST ARE JUST SWARMING IN THE SKY. AND SO LIVECOPTER3 IS PROVIDING THIS BEAUTIFUL, NATURAL EVENT TAKING PLACE RIGHT OVER THE DELTA. NOW AND AGAIN YOU CAN SEE JUST ALL THE SNOW GEESE THAT ARE OUT THERE. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. LET’S GO AND TAKE A LOOK AT OUR CURRENT CONDITIONS. 55 DEGREES IN SACRAMENTO 58 IN STOCKTON, 58 IN MODESTO AND 43 DEGREES IS THE CURRENT TEMPERATURE IN TRUCKEE. AS WE WATCH THOSE SNOW GEESE JUST KIND OF CONTINUE TO JUST MILL AROUND IN THE SKY AND ON THE GROUND. BUT BOY, AT ONE POINT THERE WERE JUST SO MANY OF THEM. THERE WAS JUST A BIG SWARM. IT’S KIND OF NEAT TO SEE. THANKS FOR PROVIDING THAT SHOT THERE. LET’S TAKE A LOOK NOW AT CONDITIONS ELSEWHERE. YEAH, WE HAVE TO MOVE ON BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME RAIN TO TALK ABOUT. RAIN MOVING IN ALONG THE NORTHERN COAST OF CALIFORNIA, STARTING TO SWEEP OVER THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS, AND WE’RE SEEING A FEW LIGHT SHOWERS MAKE THEIR WAY IN THROUGH THE NORTHERN END OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY. THIS IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO PUSH THROUGH OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. IT’S NOT GOING TO LAST VERY LONG, BUT IT’S PROVIDING US WITH SOME DECENT RAIN HERE ALONG THE NORTHERN COAST. YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THAT HEAVIER RAIN OVER THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS THERE, COASTAL MOUNTAINS, LAKE COUNTY GETTING A GOOD SHOT OF RAIN. NOW THIS IS MOVING INTO GLENN COUNTY AND COLUSA COUNTY. SO WE’RE GOING TO SEE THAT MAKE ITS WAY MORE TOWARDS COLUSA AND WILLIAMS. GETTING SOME OF THAT RAIN WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO. SO WE ARE GOING TO SEE THIS BAND MOVE THROUGH AGAIN. IT TAPERS OFF QUITE A BIT THE FARTHER SOUTH YOU GO. SO THE HEAVIEST RAIN STAYING TO THE NORTH, LIGHTER RAIN TO THE SOUTH. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT FUTURECAST AND SEE THE TIMING OF THIS. AND AGAIN AS WE GET PAST 7 P.M. THAT’S WHEN WE’LL SEE THINGS PICK UP A LITTLE BIT. AND THEN IT MOVES ON INTO THE SIERRA WHERE WE’RE GOING TO BE SEEING SOME SNOW THAT’S GOING TO BE PICKING UP AGAIN. WE MAY SEE OVER DONNER SUMMIT. WE COULD SEE BETWEEN AN INCH TO TWO INCHES OF SNOWFALL, AND THAT COULD POSE SOME ISSUES IF YOU PLAN ON TRAVELING, BUT IT’S NOT GOING TO BE UNTIL CLOSER TO MIDNIGHT. SO 10:00 IS WHEN THE SNOW SHOULD START, AND THEN WE’LL CONTINUE ON INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS WEDNESDAY. BUT BY 4:00, MOST OF IT’S GOING TO BE GONE. AND THEN WE’RE JUST LOOKING OUT FOR THE CHANCE FOR SOME FOG TO BE POPPING UP OUT THERE. SO WE’LL SEE THAT AS WE GO THROUGH WEDNESDAY AND THEN ON INTO THURSDAY. MORE WIDESPREAD FOG IS EXPECTED. SO LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE. THIS WEATHER SYSTEM MOVING ON THROUGH SOME SNOW LASTING INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THEN CLEARING OUT. WE WILL SEE A LITTLE BIT OF SUNSHINE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. LOOKING PRETTY GOOD THEN THURSDAY. HERE WE ARE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS WELL. NOW WHAT THIS MEANS WITH HIGH PRESSURE WE CAN SEE THE FOG STICKING AROUND A LITTLE BIT LONGER SO TEMPERATURES COULD END UP BEING A LITTLE BIT COOLER ON THURSDAY THAN WHAT WE’RE GOING TO EXPERIENCE ON WEDNESDAY. BUT THEN WE DO GET SOME MIXING. WE’RE LOOKING AT CONDITIONS ACTUALLY WARMING FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY INTO THE 60S. AND HERE WE GO FROM SUNDAY INTO MONDAY. ANOTHER LITTLE WEAK WEATHER SYSTEM PASSES ON BY TEMPERATURES TOMORROW. DAYTIME HIGHS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. UPPER 50S TO LOWER 60S AFTER MORNING. TEMPERATURES RANGING IN THE MID TO LOW 40S, AND AGAIN THE CHANCE FOR SOME PATCHY FOG. I DON’T THINK IT WILL BE TOO EXTENSIVE. IT’S NOT GOING TO LAST TOO LONG. SEVEN DAY FORECAST SHOWS CONDITIONS THAT WILL STAY IN THE LOW 60S AS WE GET PAST FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, WITH MOSTLY CLOUDY TO PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AT TIMES AND OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES THAT WILL BE RANGING IN THE 40S. BUT THE THING TO NOTE HERE NO RAIN. WE’RE GOING TO STA

Rain moving across Northern California followed by more fog

KCRA 3 Weather meteorologist Dirk Verdoorn is tracking the rain and snow moving across Northern California.
