ALAMEDA \u2014 Police here say that a local mother was so busy assaulting her blind daughter and ripping out her hair, she didn\u2019t notice her other daughter, a 3-year-old, wandering into a busy street, where the young child was nearly struck by an automobile.<\/p>\n
Now the mother, a 32-year-old Alameda woman, is facing criminal charges. On Monday, prosecutors charged her with a felony count of child abuse for allegedly ripping out the teenager\u2019s hair, and a misdemeanor count of child endangerment for allegedly neglecting the 3-year-old\u2019s safety. The woman was arrested at a hospital in San Leandro after the Jan. 24 incident, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Authorities said in court filings that the incident began after an argument between the woman and her teenage daughter, who is legally blind, but the nature of the argument wasn\u2019t specified.<\/p>\n
The woman hasn\u2019t yet appeared in court and remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
