AFTER JAPAN\u2019S SURRENDER, HE WAS CAPTURED AND SENT TO A SIBERIAN PRISON CAMP. YEARS LATER, HE MOVED TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, WHERE HE WAS DRAFTED INTO THE U.S. ARMY. NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY IN TWO COUNTRIES, AND HE IS STILL SERVING HIS COMMUNITY IN DIFFERENT WAYS. Ohye joined the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II at the age of 13. After Japan’s surrender, he was captured and sent to a Siberian prison camp. Years later, he moved to Northern California, where he was drafted into the U.S. Army, making him one of the few individuals to have served in the military of two countries.Ohye continues to serve his senior living community in different ways.
