{"id":155693,"date":"2026-01-30T00:13:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T00:13:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/155693\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T00:13:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T00:13:07","slug":"california-woman-accused-of-beheading-boyfriend-arrested-in-mexico-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/155693\/","title":{"rendered":"California woman accused of beheading boyfriend arrested in Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A California woman accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountyda.org\/press\/anaheim-woman-accused-of-killing-decapitating-her-boyfriend-of-two-months-arrested-in-mexico-brought-back-to-orange-county-to-face-murder-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">killing and decapitating her boyfriend was arrested in Mexico<\/a> last week and returned to the U.S. to face charges of murder, authorities announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountyda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Anaheim-PD-OCDA-Joint-Release-Lira-Alyssa-Murder-Suspect-Removal-from-Mexico-1.29.2026-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Alyssa Marie Lira, 23, has been charged<\/a> with one felony count of murder and one felony enhancement of personally using a weapon, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountyda.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The charges come five months after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/man-found-dead-inside-anaheim-home-homicide-investigation-underway\/3769705\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">headless body of Lira\u2019s boyfriend<\/a>, 55-year-old Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal, was found in her Anaheim home. The two had only been dating for about two months at the time of his murder, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>No other details in the gruesome slaying or a motive have been made public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the course of the investigation, Anaheim homicide detectives identified Lira as a suspect and determined that she had immediately fled to Mexico after the murder,\u201d prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Lira, who had been on the run ever since, was taken into custody on Jan. 22 after a months-long search by both American and Mexican law enforcement. Authorities did not provide further details on how or where she was captured.<\/p>\n<p>Lira was extradited back to the California and is currently being held at the Orange County Jail without bail.
